The Noon Number: Predators and Prey

3 – Number of teams in the NHL against whom the Caps have a sub-.500 points percentage since 2014 — Dallas (.423), Vegas (.400, albeit in a small sample size), and tonight’s opponent, the Predators (.250).

Dating back to the start of the 2014 season, the Caps are an abysmal 2-8-2 in 12 tries against Nashville. That includes a seven-game win streak through the start of this season, with three straight losses on home ice to the Preds. Over that span, the Caps have been outscored 52-37, making Nashville one of just six teams in the NHL to have a positive goal differential against the Caps over the past 5+ seasons (and the only one to have a double-digit goal lead over that span).

The Caps have a chance to begin reversing that trend tonight, and avenge an early-season 6-5 loss to Nashville, when they play host to the pesky Preds at Capital One Arena.
