Capitals vs. Red Wings Recap: Strome Leads Caps to 4-3 OT Win

Plus: Nice to see the offense getting spread out tonight, with nine different players picking up points in regulation.

Minus: Anytime Patrick Kane scores a goal is an automatic minus that supersedes all other minuses and we weep for humanity.

Key Moment: Dylan Strome picking up the go-ahead goal in the third was the winner here until some Detroit butthead tied it up late…but he topped it with a beautiful overtime winner:

Caps Player of the Game: Gotta be Dylan Strome, although shoutout to Hendrix Lapierre for some excellent plays in OT and Ivan Miroshnichenko for being noticeable (in a good way) in regulation.

Final Thoughts: This was not the cleanest game ever, by any stretch, with a first period that saw these two teams mostly feeling each other out before the intensity gradually ramped up to the playoff atmosphere we’d expect. Some sloppy turnovers, some timely goals, but at the end of the day? A huge win in a huge game.
