Plus: Another goal for the GOAT, which not only brings him closer to 30 on the season and one closer to 99’s mark but also gave his team a spark…albeit one that didn’t last long enough and was ultimately too late in the game.
Minus: Losing to the Penguins at any point, in any scenario, by any score, is a minus. Screw those guys.
Key Moment: That wasted five-on-three power play…man, that stings. As good as the team has been with the extra man in the last month or two, it’s really let them down when they’ve needed it over the last few games.
Caps Player of the Game: Not much to choose from but since he’s the only one who cracked the great and powerful Alex Nedeljkovic (extreme sarcasm font implied)
Final Thoughts: Simply cannot keep taking the ice to teams like this and putting together a largely disorganized and listless performance. The Caps, as crafted, are not exactly good and expectations should be low…but the Penguins are hardly world-beaters at this point, either, and losing to them in that fashion, and allowing them to continue their delusion of being in the playoff race? Not great.
