Capitals vs. Kraken Recap: Caps Drop 1-4 to Hottest Team in the League

Plus: Max Pacioretty is one of the best stories in the NHL, returning after two length Achilles heel injuries. He scored his first goal in a year almost to the date. It’s great to see and hope he can keeping putting them in the net because the Caps desperately need them.

Minus: Three of the four goals against the Caps were on the rush. The Caps need to do a much better job at getting stick or bodies on pucks to stop scoring chance. This is something that has plagued them all season. Seems other teams can easily disrupt shots and passes against the Caps but the Caps can’t return the favor.

Key Moment: The Kraken’s first goal was a big moment. The Caps were dominating the game then Seattle just went down and sniped one with two Caps screening their own goalie. If Caps get the first goal it could have been a different story.

Caps Player of the Game: Nick Jensen was extremely noticeable through out the game at both ends of the ice. He’s had a rough season on and off so seeing him thrive was great. He needs to keep it up.

Final Thoughts: The Caps really didn’t play a poor game but Seattle just scored on their chances and Joey Daccord was amazing. The Kraken are the hottest team in the league for a reason. Their low tier players were dealing out snipes and sick passes. It happens.

Scoring is still alluding the Caps and I don’t know if there is an answer out there. When they score two or more goals they win or at least grab a point. Getting that second goal is just really rough for them. But again, they tried tonight and had their chances, but Daccord is the best goalie in the league right now.
