Capitals vs. Blues Recap: Caps Upset Champs on Opening Night

A year after raising their own Stanley Cup banner the Washington Capitals traveled to St. Louis Missouri and defeated the Blues on their own special night. The Capitals climbed back from a two goal deficit to win the contest 3 to 2 in overtime.

Here’s Wednesday night’s Plus/Minus:

Plus: After a shaky start the Capitals dug in and produced a strong road performance against an excellent St. Louis Blues club. Goaltender Braden Holtby was perfect after the game’s opening eight minutes.

Minus: Chandler Stephenson skated more than twelve minutes tonight and was unable to move the needle Washington’s way.
