- … but another good night for the streaking Cap’n. From Elias: Alex Ovechkin scored one goal and assisted on another in the Capitals‘ 4-3 win over the Panthers after doing the same in each of Washington previous two games (Dec. 29 at the Islanders and Jan. 1 in the Winter Classic vs. the Blackhawks). This is the first time that Ovechkin has registered three consecutive multiple-point games since March 21-24, 2013. The only other streak of three straight multi-point games by a Capitals player in one of the last three seasons was by Nicklas Backstrom (Dec. 10-15, 2013).

- Madison Bowey and Team Canada are set for the WJC gold medal game vs. Russia after defeating Slovakia 5-1 in the semifinals. The Slovaks and the Swedes will play for bronze today at 4pm; the gold medal game is at 8pm (all times Eastern).
- Riley Barber earned his 100th NCAA point with an assist on Connor Lemirande’s first NCAA goal vs. Notre Dame on December 28. Two more goals and one assist in a weekend sweep of RPI and Barber is tied for 14th overall in D-I scoring with 21 points in 20 games played. [@MiamiOH_Hockey]
