The Noon Number: Leader of the Pack

1416.2 – Amount of time (in minutes) that the Capitals have played with a lead this season, tops in the League and almost a full game’s worth of time ahead of second-place Minnesota (1364.5). They’re also second in the League this year in least time spent trailing, at 591.6 minutes (the Wild lead in that category with 528.5).

Put another way, the Caps have averaged 28.3 minutes per game with the lead, and trailed an average of 11.9.

Since Barry Trotz took over, no team has played more minutes with the lead than the Caps in the regular season, racking up 4966.9 over that span (with the Rangers right behind at 4901.4 minutes), or trailed for fewer minutes than the Caps’ 3122.9. That’s a per-game average of 23.2 and 14.6, respectively.
