The Noon Number: Brett to the Net

2.89 – Points-per-60 rate at five on five for Brett Connolly, the highest in the League among players with an average ES ice time lower than 12:30/game (Connolly checks in with 12:11). Even without the ice time requirement, his points-per-60 has him ranked 20th in the League, tied with Evgeni Malkin and just ahead of teammate Alex Ovechkin (2.72).

Connolly has been an efficient point producer since joining the Caps back in 2016-17; heading into Saturday’s game in Columbus, he was the only NHLer to have accumulated at least 67 points while averaging less than 13 minutes a game (h/t @CapitalsPR).

Connolly is off to a strong start this season, tied with Jakub Vrana for fifth on the team in points with 18 (5-13-18) – and he is only nine points shy of his career high of 27, which he set just last year.

And it’s probably safe to say that his fifth goal of the season was one of the prettier ones he’s scored:
