4 – Number of rookie (as defined by the NHL) goalies from whom the Capitals have gotten at least two wins since the start of the 2009-10 season, the most in the NHL. Philipp Grubauer joined Braden Holtby, Michal Neuvirth and Semyon Varlamov* on this list (which, incidentally, represents four different nationalities as well) with his victory on Tuesday night.
Since the start of the 2008-09 season, Caps goalies under the age of 26 have compiled a 139-77-29/2.55/.916 line, while their senior counterparts (Brent Johnson, Jose Theodore and Tomas Vokoun) have gone 99-47-16/2.75/.909.
* Of note, both Neuvirth and Varlamov had wins in 2008-09, but didn’t play enough games to lose their respective Calder eligibilities.
