The Noon Number: A Chance to Advance

.385 – The Capitals’ postseason win percentage during the Ovechkin Era when having the ability to eliminate their opponent (including Game 7 appearances). The Caps have accumulated three wins in a series 26 times since 2008 and gone on to win the fourth game in 10 of them; 11 of those 26 series have required a Game 7, with the Caps going 4-7 in those winner-takes-all series.

While the overall numbers can look a bit grim, the Caps have had a decent amount of success in this department in recent years. After failing to eliminate their opponent in nine of 10 tries from 2012 on, they’ve since won four straight and six of their last seven. They’ve also led a series 3-2 nine times since 2008 and won four-consecutive Game 6’s dating back to their Round 1 win over the Flyers in 2016.
