Plus: After a rough start, the Capitals controlled play in the second and third periods with an xGF share of 83% in the second period and 61.81% in the third.

Minus: Six teams in NHL history have finished a season with a power play percentage at 10% or lower. The lowest mark belongs to the 2019-20 Anaheim Ducks, who finished at 8.9%. There’s no way the Caps, who entered tonight at 7%, stay that bad on the man advantage…right?

Caps Player of the Game: A game-tying assist followed by sealing it with 3 seconds left in OT makes Dylan Strome a pretty easy answer for this.

Key Moment:

This is probably the loudest Capital One Arena’s been all season.

Final Thought: Another really strong effort that’s starting to feel a lot less like a random hot streak and more like something you can expect to see from this team nightly. They did go on a similar 10-1-0 stretch in December of last year, but what they’ve shown throughout this last month feels a lot more sustainable.
