Plus: Solid overall team play. It was a grind-it-out kind of game and the Capitals executed their game plan well.

Minus: Ovechkin’s point streak was snapped, as was the Capitals winning streak.

Caps Player of the game: Tom Wilson. He drew two penalties and scored a goal.

Key Moment: With the lead at just under 5 minutes left in the game, the Florida Panthers pressured the Capitals, drawing a penalty against Nick Jensen and leading to Florida’s Carter Verhaeghe’s game-tying goal:

Final Thoughts: It was a gritty kind of game, and the Capitals did well to suppress shots against the Panthers. The Capitals played the game they wanted but just weren’t able to close it out. Also the team had some trouble finishing on breakaways – one from Dylan Strome, one from Pierrick Dube, and then the Alex Ovechkin-Rasmus Sandin play in overtime.
