Capitals vs. Jets Recap: The Goat Strikes Twice in Caps’ 3-0 Win

Plus: Celebrating 1000+ games for T.J. Oshie made this a lovely afternoon before the team even took the ice, especially with the appearance of Nicklas Backstrom on the ice and some old friends on the screen. That his team then went out and won another game in 77-esque workmanlike style? Cherry on the sundae.

Minus: That second period…woof. Thanks, Charlie.

Key Moment: John Carlson breaking the ice with the extra man, as both he and the team’s power play remain hot:

Caps Player of the Game: Another multi-goal performance for the captain means this is a no-brainer, it has to be Alex Ovechkin (although honorable mention to Charlie Lindgren with another stellar shutout performance, keeping the team in the game when the ice tilted in the second).

Final Thoughts: It was a very different type of outing for the Caps today from the nuttiness of Friday night, but the result was just as glorious. Good job by the team to shake off what was a pretty abysmal middle frame to come out soaring in the third…and ground the Jets for good. Another huge two points.
