Plus: Um….the penalty kill was okay?

Minus: Losing a player to injury in a game is never good. Losing two in a single play – one of them being your goalie, in the early part of a back-to-back set of games – is even less good. Both Martin Fehervary and Charlie Lindgren exited tonight’s game at the same time in the first period, although they were injured on two different plays – Lindgren on a high shot he’d taken a few minutes earlier, and Fehervary after being tripped down by Anders Lee (no call, but whatever) and falling awkwardly into the boards.

Key Moment: It was all downhill from here.

Caps Player of the Game: Nicolas Aube-Kubel for snapping the shutout in the final 20 seconds of regulation. God bless that man.

Final Thoughts: Probably the worst trip to New York this team has had in quite some time, although at least they avoided the embarrassment that would follow being shut out by the Islanders twice in one season. So there’s that.

Onward.
