Alex Ovechkin and Braden Holtby Named to 2017 All-Star Game

The NHL has unveiled its rosters for the 2017 All-Star Game , and once again Alex Ovechkin and Braden Holtby have made the cut. The Caps’ duo will suit up for the Metropolitan Division squad, captained by Sidney Crosby (…awkward), and join 38 of their fellow shining stars in Los Angeles later this month.

For Ovechkin, this marks his franchise-record eighth selection to the All-Star Game, and third-straight (although he sat out last year to nurse a nagging injury). Holtby made his All-Star Game debut last year; with his second selection, he becomes the only Caps’ goaltender not named Olie Kolzig to be picked for two All-Star Games.

The two players will also be joined by a familiar face behind the scenes, as the Caps head athletic trainer Greg Smith was also named to the team as the official trainer of the Eastern Conference squads.

Congrats to all three on well-deserved accolades!
