The Caps did exactly what they needed to do last night, putting up a dominant win against a team that they should dominate – and in doing so, ensuring that all four lines and all defensive pairs are as well-rested as they can be heading into the second of back-to-back games. In fact, only Nic Dowd (!) and Alex Ovechkin cracked the 20-minute mark, and just barely, at 20:14 and 20:04 respectively.
So the Caps did their job to kick off the week… now they have another job to do. Bring on the Islanders.
