Samantha Pell of the Washington Post reports:

Her story is here.

As we learned yesterday, the four players undergoing quarantine had gathered together in a hotel room without masks while on the road with the team, information that apparently came out during contact tracing after Samsonov’s positive test result. The team was also fined $100K for the breach of health and safety protocol.

Samsonov, Ovechkin, Kuznetsov and Orlov will all miss at least the next four games - two against Buffalo and then a pair against the Islanders - pending successful quarantine and negative test results.

The effects this will have on the club are of concern, but paramount is the health of the players, coaches, staff, and families. More on this will be reported as information becomes available.
