The NHL announced the rosters for the 2019 All-Star Game, and defenseman John Carlson and netminder Braden Holtby will be representing the Washington Capitals on the Metro Division team.

Carlson has 38 points, and his 32 assists are second only to Nicklas Backstrom. He is also averaging 25:25 of ice time a night and has posted a +21 rating in 37 games, both of which lead all Capitals skaters this season. Holtby has posted a solid .912 SV% in 27 games this season with a 2.84 GAA, and has a record of 15-9-2. This will be Holtby’s fourth consecutive All-Star appearance and Carlson’s first.

Capitals’ captain Alex Ovechkin was voted, by fans, to captain the Metro team but announced earlier today that he would not be participating in the All-Star festivities this year. He is instead opting to rest for what will hopefully be a long playoff push in the second half of the season.
