Defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka to Audition with Capitals

Per Tarik El-Bashir, the Caps have brought in Finnish defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka on a Professional Try-Out (PTO) agreement.

Originally a late-round pick by Dallas in 2011, Jokipakka spent parts of two seasons with the Stars before being sent to Calgary as part of a deadline-day deal. He was in and out of the Flames’ lineup in 2016 and 2017 before being placed on waivers and ultimately sent to Ottawa in another trade deadline swap.

Jokipakka will join a handful of Caps’ prospects vying for some recently vacated spots on the team’s blueline when training camp opens September 15.
