  • This game is the first of a critical three-game home stand for the Caps, and the first of a critical three-game roadie for Calgary. [Stars and Sticks, Calgary Sun]

  • Bobble. Beast. Beauty. [nhl.capitals.com]
  • Johnny Gaudreau is in town today with all his earned accolades. Well, the Caps have a kid whose fancystats rival those of Gaudreau’s... and he’s a year younger.

  • Oh hai there Pheonix Copley. It’s nice to have you back. Perhaps you would like to stay? [WaPo] Related:
  • Congrats are in order for Paul Carey, whose 6-2-8 performance in three games earned him AHL Player of the Week honors. [Chocolate Hockey]
  • Finally, happy 51st birthday to the "Wild Thing" himself, Al Iafrate.
  • One more - I’d like to take a moment to mark the passing of Russian hockey commentator Sergei Gimaev, who died on Saturday at the too-young age of 62. His name isn’t well known in North America but he is a legend in Russia and I ran across his commentary often while researching the Rus media. He was always and ever a fierce advocate for Alexander Ovechkin. I will miss reading his words and hockey will be the poorer for his loss. Rest well, Sergei Nailievich.
