The Noon Number: Home Bittersweet Home

A look at a rare rough patch in DC

NHL: Florida Panthers at Washington Capitals Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

3 - Number of consecutive regulation losses at home for the Capitals, the first time they’ve had a streak of that variety at home since the pre-Barry Trotz era back in November of 2013.

In fact, since Trotz took over the bench, they’ve only had five three-game losing streaks of any kind in DC, the most recent coming in April of 2016 when they suffered back-to-back overtime losses to the Islanders and Pittsburgh and followed that up with an end-of-season shutout loss to the Ducks.

The last time the team lost more than three games at home without the aid of overtime or a shootout? For that, you have to go all the way back to 2007, when the Caps suffered a five-game losing streak (to Vancouver, Philadelphia, Tampa, Florida and Atlanta) - all in regulation.
