4 – Number of times the Capitals have given up at least five goals in a game this season, including Saturday evening’s 5-2 loss in Nashville. That’s tied with Minnesota for the second-fewest games with at least five goals against, trailing only Montreal’s two for the League lead.
In two of those four games, the Caps still managed to score at least five goals in their own right, picking up a 6-5 OT win over the Leafs just after the new year and dropping a wild 8-7 overtime game in Pittsburgh a couple of weeks later.
On the flip side, in both regulation losses the Caps’ opponent has needed an empty-netter to hit that five-goal mark.
