The Noon Number: Back-to-Back Bang-Bang

2 – Number of goals Marcus Johansson scored in each of the Caps’ last two games, in Vancouver on Saturday night and Calgary on Sunday evening.

When he potted last night’s insurance tally into an empty net, Johansson became the first Cap to score multiple goals on back-to-back nights since Alex Ovechkin did so back in January (ninth and tenth) of this year, which wasn’t all that long ago. But for non-Ovi (who also turned this trick in April, 2013 and December, 2011) Caps, Johansson is the first since Alexander Semin tallied twice on January 26 and then again on the 27th, 2010. And before Semin? You’d have to go all the way back to December ninth and tenth of 1989, when Dino Ciccarelli potted a pair in consecutive games.

Finally, this weekend also gives Johansson three multi-goal games among his last 11 regular season matches. Mister MoJo risin’ indeed.
