The Noon Number: One “Season” Under the Belt

96 – Number of standings points the Caps have accumulated in the 82 games since Adam Oates took over behind the bench. As Mike Vogel notes, that’s the second-most points in team history over that same span, behind only the 106 that Bruce Boudreau amassed in his first 82 games. It’s also four more than the team managed in 2011-12, and the would be the fifth-most (tied) the team has compiled over an 82-game season, and ninth-most (tied) overall.

Under Oates (during the regular season), the Caps have scored 2.99 goals per game and allowed 2.79, while converting on 25.9% of their power plays and successfully killing off 80.3% of their penalties.
