Caps are now pretty much guarenteed to make it to the 3rd round of the playoffs this year….I just bought plane tickets and will be in Germany 5/14 to 6/1.
I’ve attended palyoff games 2 of the last 3 years (2-2 record in those games), both years ending in first round exits.
Hope my plan works. Let’s go Caps.
Please tell me there is something nostalgic or historic about Carey Price’s classic mask. Because it is the most hideous thing I’ve ever seen
eh..
Putting Plante’s eyeballs on the lid still won’t be as iconic as this:

Thanks, hopefully Orlov qualifies to play…that would be awesome.

All indications are that won’t be earlier than March 1st.

@jwaltonhockey
Lot of buzz about Orlov being here (he arrived last night). Expected to sign his AHL deal Monday, expect an official announcement tomorrow.
:)
You perhaps knew me better as "Your Nation's Capital." Same great commentary, now with 100% more transparency!
Yeah, should have read twitter before posting. That’s a pleasant surprise. Of course, he still may not play until March 1st. That’s barely a week away. Ouch.

Just curious where did you read March 1? Something from one of my posts or something else?
The thing I know of related to March 1 relates to when he can sign and the Caps could file an NHL Entry Level Contract with the Capitals starting for next season.
Walton is reporting he will sign with Hershey on Monday. He could sign an AHL standard player contract (if the exemption is granted regarding AHL waivers) or an AHL tryout contract (like the Joensuu 07-08 scenario) before March 1 if the exemption is granted or as I mentioned before the Joensuu path is taken.
The catch being does the player and agent want to risk playing before the ELC is finalized. And I think they’d want to get in some practices with the team before playing and this isn’t a good week with 2 road games (Toronto on Wed/Lake Erie (Cleveland) on Thu, plus they play next Saturday at home and Sunday at Bridgeport. Then, March arrives and they play Wed, Sat, Sun.
I read something either from you or Leone talking about the jet lag and adjusting to North America that it could take him a week.
Oh, and he doesn’t have a visa yet.

I get the impression he has the visa he needs for the US, it’s the game in Toronto on Wed. that Chesnokov is referring to in that tweet.
Anyway, the March 1 relates to signing his NHL ELC starting for ’11-12 season. I was just noting that date as it relates to an NHL contract and possibly waiting until then even if the org. did decide they wanted him to play before that time (i.e., next weekend).
Definitely needs to practice with team, adjust to jet lag, etc. I imagine there will be a number of players skating this week even when Hershey is on the road given all the players on IR. I’d think he’d stay behind given the visa issue and skate with the injured guys and get settled in N.A./Hershey this week.
Sooner or later, sounds like we will see him in a Hershey jersey :)
I still can’t believe that the US and Canada haven’t established some sort of fast-track visa program for NHL athletes (and NBA/MLB; Toronto has teams in those leagues, too). At least for the American and Canadian athletes — I guess they wouldn’t want to let Europeans get through on a loophole.

Kolzig
Fun, Kolzig on the ice last night…
“A guy named Kevin on the ice is shooting the puck through a tiny, tiny hole barely big enough for the puck to fit through for $10,000. He was WAY off the mark.
But, he’s getting 4 more shots — this time shooting against former Ams and Washington Capitals goalie Olie Kolzig…"
