31 – Number of days remaining until the start of the Washington Capitals’ 50th season. But it’s also…

…the number of players to score at least 100 goals in a Capitals’ uniform since the franchise’s inception. Alex Ovechkin obviously leads the way, having picked up 853 in DC and passing previous leader Peter Bondra back in 2015. Three of the top 10 goal-scorers in franchise history are currently (…for now) still active, with Nicklas Backstrom slotting in at fourth with 271 and T.J. Oshie at ninth with 192. Five of the 31 are blueliners, with John Carlson leading the pack with 151 goals.
