And so it’s set.
Caps vs. Habs. Red, white and blue vs. bleu, blanc et rouge. Ryan Walter and Rick Green for Rod Langway, Craig Laughlin, Doug Jarvis and Brian Engblom. Alex Ovechkin‘s best game as an NHLer. “The Sequel”. And of course…2010.
We all know what happened in 2010.
It’s incredibly on brand for the Capitals to have the briefest playoff history with a team and yet have it be one of the most painful postseason outcomes to date – so this series is all about putting that one, 15 years ago, behind us all. A bit of redemption, shall we say (and that’s something that worked out pretty well for the Caps back in 2018…)
There’ll be plenty of time to dive into those storylines and others in the days ahead, of course, but first things first: the numbers.
