The gentlemen had their chance yesterday, and it went very badly – so today, it’s time for the ladies to take over! The PWHL Takeover Tour rides into DC today, with Capital One Arena playing host to the Montreal Victoire and the New York Sirens.
The two teams have faced off twice already this season, with the Victoire shutting out the Sirens 4-0 in Montreal back in late November, and New York kicking off the new year with a 4-3 win over Montreal on January 2.
Both teams have players with strong ties to the DC area. Montreal’s Hayley Scamurra is the daughter of Peter Scamurra, who played four seasons for the Capitals back in the 70s (poor guy), while teammate Haley Skarupa has worked with the Capitals as a youth hockey ambassador. On the New York side, Kayla Vespa grew up rooting for Alex Ovechkin and the Caps despite being an Ontario native.
