Plus: The faceoff circle. The Caps were 52% in the faceoff dot tonight against a good faceoff team in San Jose.
Minus: The power play. The Capitals went 0 for 3 with the extra man after a few strong games.
Key Moment: Dylan Strome’s game tying goal in the third period. He’s got 6 goals in five games.
Caps Player of the Game: Dylan Strome – not only did he have the game-tying goal (again) but he had an awesome night in the faceoff circle, as well, with 21 wins to just 6 losses.
Final Thoughts: It was a sleepy Sunday start for the Washington Capitals as they were outshot and outscored in the first period by a team they had no business doing either of those things to. Thankfully Darcy Kuemper was strong in net to keep Capitals in the game early and down just one goal, and allowed the Capitals time to get stronger as the game went on, finally finding the back of the net in the third period. Against a winless team, this is a win that the Capitals needed to grab on home ice. The Capitals are now over .500 on the season and have a three game win streak.
