On the day that Tom Wilson and Logan Thompson were announced to join the Canadian Olympic team, Wilson led the team to a huge win for the Caps. It was a close game throughout until the Caps pulled away in the third, taking two very important points before they head to Ottawa tomorrow to play a rested Senators’ team.
Plus: The Caps didn’t blow a third period lead! After doing that very thing against the Rangers last week and against Florida on Monday, it was good to see them (mostly) learn from their mistakes and hold on for the win.
Minus: It seems like on this rough stretch of games, the Caps their defensive coverage has been lacking. A few too many times they gave up good scoring chances, including on the Rangers’ first goal. Thankfully it didn’t end up costing them but something to keep an eye on.
Caps Player of the Game: Tom Wilson was easily the best player of the game. A couple of big goals, big hits and a fight. On the day he was elected for the Olympic team, he was showing off as to why.
