Capitals vs. Rangers Recap: Caps Dominate in 5-3 Win

Did Alex Ovechkin score? He scored not just once but twice, both at even strength!

Plus: Just about everything was a plus. The Caps were absolutely dominant throughout the game, outshooting the Rangers 46-19. If the Rangers weren’t blessed with yet another elite goalie the Caps would have buried them.

Minus: The Caps lost Jakob Chychrun just a couple shifts into the game, which is a huge loss. The Caps are still without Matt Roy so they are now down two top-four defensemen, arguably two-top pairing defensemen. The fact that they dominated the way they did with only five defensemen the whole game says a lot of about head coach Spencer Carbery and the team’s buy-in mentality.

Our Three Stars:
*** Igor Shesterkin (41 saves)
** Aliaksei Protas (1 Goal, 2 Assists)
* Alex Ovechkin (2 Goals)
