Capitals vs. Jets Recap: Another Wild One for Caps in 5-4 OT Loss

Feb 1, 2025; Washington, District of Columbia, USA; Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck (37) makes a save on Washington Capitals left wing Pierre-Luc Dubois (80) as Winnipeg Jets right wing Nino Niederreiter (62) chases in the first period at Capital One Arena. Did Alex Ovechkin score? He did! The big man coming in clutch with the game-tying tally – and that’s 18 to go…

Plus: For the second straight game, the Caps erased 3-1 and 4-2 deficits to force overtime. Sure, you’d rather they take a lead – and keep it – but having the ability to come back, especially against an equally tough team (and extremely tough goalie) is a nice bullet to have in your belt. Ever resilient, these Capitals.

Minus: Another bad start to this one, as the Caps found themselves in a 2-0 hole before the game was 15 minutes old.
