Capitals vs. Islanders Recap: Offense Again Quiet in 3-1 Loss

The Caps’ big guns are quiet once more in 3-1 loss to the Isles.

The Caps are in a bit of a rough patch at the moment, with the offense in particular struggling. While they did finally get something on the board tonight, it was just a lone goal – not good enough when you give up two, and certainly not good enough against a tired Isles team in the middle of a losing skid. Now their own streak goes to three losses, with just two goals in those three games.

Plus: The Caps went over 100 minutes without a goal before Tom Wilson finally ended that stretch, a continuation of what has been a very strong start for #43.

Minus: Late in the first period, a frame the Caps dominated, Pierre-Luc Dubois appeared to have suffered an injury off a faceoff and left the ice. He would not return, putting the Caps down their top two centers with Dylan Strome still out…and that’s not great. Here’s hoping the Caps at least get Strome back tomorrow and then we extend that hope to whatever is ailing PLD

Caps Player of the Game: Caps are struggling to score goals right now, and Tom Wilson scored a goal (and has scored a pretty decent amount already this season). That’s good enough for the star of the night. Honorable mention could go to Anthony Beauvillier, though, who came so close to lighting up his former team on multiple occasions tonight, particularly in the first period.
