Capitals vs. Golden Knights Recap: House Rules as Caps Fall 4-1

Plus: Tom Wilson had a huge game for #700. #701 wasn’t quite as good, as it included two trips to the penalty box (one of which resulted in a Vegas power-play goal) – but he did break Logan Thompson’s shutout late in the third, and that’s about as good as it got tonight.

Minus: The Caps took too many penalties and didn’t draw nearly enough – just one power-play opportunity for the good guys tonight – but more than that was just a lack of energy in this one. You can tell this trip is starting to drain them a bit.

Key Moment: An unfortunate bounce and a Jack Eichel breakaway…bad news.

Caps Player of the Game: Poor Darcy Kuemper had to play this game while under the weather, and kept it closer than it should have been. Hats off and heal up, Kuemps.

Final Thoughts: Ugly from the second period on, although the Caps showed some signs of life late in the third and at least got a goal. Just one more game on this season-long road trip remaining for the Caps and then they can come on home – here’s hoping they can shake this one off and take out their frustration on a suddenly hot Arizona team.
