The Caps were red-hot before the Olympic break, and it seems they’ve decided to keep things rolling, winning their second in a row to kick the weekend off on a high note.

Plus: The Caps’ second periods aren’t always their best frame – they’re just slightly ahead of even in goal differential in the second – but tonight that was when they (and by “they” we of course mean Pierre-Luc Dubois and the Giant Human Line) really came out firing, putting up a 3-0 lead on Vegas.

Minus: Look, it’s not ALWAYS the power play that earns the minus but usually…it’s the power play. And tonight? Yeah, it’s the power play. The Caps had the man advantage five times tonight, including a lengthy two-man advantage in the second period, and generated a whole bunch of nothin’. In fact, on a power play late in the third, one that could’ve put the nail in the coffin, the better chances were all coming off of Vegas sticks with Logan Thompson making some huge saves to bail them out.

Caps Player of the Game: Gotta give it to the big man – well, one of ’em, anyway – as Dubois continues his strong return from injury with two goals and an assist tonight…although Logan Thompson certainly held the team together down the stretch.
