Plus: The Protas-McMichael-Mantha line continues to be absolute fire, cashing in with another goal tonight – a beauty of a move around the goalie by Connor McMichael that was assisted by each of his linemates. Some of their best shifts tonight came after Flyer goals, with Coach Carbery smartly throwing them out on the ice in response and getting rewarded.
Minus: The officiating tonight was……something.
Key Moment: A power play…goal? A power play goal!
Caps Player of the Game: Tom Wilson and Dylan Strome continue to have the hot hand, with both picking up a goal and an assist tonight, but we’ll give the edge to Strome because of this ridiculous pass to set up Wilson’s goal in the second period:
Final Thoughts: Joe B. and Locker nailed it late in the third when they noted that this was not what one would call a pretty game, because it certainly was not. It was, however, the kind we’ve come to expect from matchups with the Flyers of late (to say nothing of games against any team John “The Dinosaur” Tortorella coaches). A sleepy start, a back-and-forth final 40, and a weird shootout finish? Just another night in the Metropolitan Division.
Back at it Saturday in Nashville.
