The Washington Capitals and Philidelphia Flyers played a mid week matchup tonight in Philadelphia. It was Timothy Liljegren’s first game with the Capitals and Matt Roy got the ‘A’ on defense.
An important game for the Capitals playoff hopes was soured by a two-goal Flyers second period, and the Caps did little to tie the game after Trevor Zegras got the go-ahead goal. Tom Wilson tried to feisty the team back into contention but it would prove not enough.
Plus: The first period. The penalty kill blanked two Flyers power plays, and the Capitals even got a power play goal of their own.
Minus: The rest of the game.
Caps player of the game: Rasmus Sandin. While Ryan Leonard got the teams only goal, Sandin was all over the ice, jumping in the offensive zone while getting back in defensive position and making multiple quick transition plays to get the Caps out of the defensive zone.
