Capitals vs. Flyers Recap: Caps Hang On for 6-3 Win

Did Alex Ovechkin score? YES. An empty-netter! It counts! 855…

Plus: The whole second line has been very good since the start of the season, but it’s been particularly fun to see how Connor McMichael has improved since 2023-24. He’s putting up points at a nice clip and looking more confident in the process…which in turn will lead to more offense. That was on display tonight, with Connor scoring two goals, including a breakaway that may not have gone in last season.

Minus: It doesn’t matter how much of a sad-sack team the Flyers have been up to this point; they have enough talent (and really, any team in the NHL does) to get back in a game if you let off the gas. The Caps eased up after jumping out to 4-0, and the Flyers took full advantage, chipping away at the lead to make this one way more competitive than it should have been.

Three Stars:

** Pierre-Luc Dubois (1G, 2A)
* Connor McMichael (2G)
