If Wednesday night was a hard-working, grind-it-out type of win, tonight’s was sort of the opposite, with lots of exciting offensive plays but very little hitting the back of the net. Both Logan Thompson and Jake Allen were more than up to the task in this goaltender duel, with goals from Ryan Leonard and Aliaksei Protas providing all the offense the Caps would need.

Plus: The Devils came into tonight’s game with a red-hot power play, one of the best in the league over the last month or so…but the Caps’ penalty kill has been coming to play lately, too, and that matchup went the Caps’ way tonight

Minus: Caps probably need to find someone who can finish all of these awesome plays Cole Hutson is already making…

Caps Player of the Game: Gotta give this one to Logan Thompson, and not in a “his team hung him out to dry” kind of way – he was just very, very good against a potent New Jersey offense, and really deserved the shutout.
