Tonight was a huge game for the Caps, with a win potentially doubling their chances to make the playoffs depending on certain out-of-town scores. Instead, they got rolled by the Devils, too many defensive breakdowns costing the Caps big time like it has all season.

Plus: Nothing really. Cole Hutson had a pretty goal for his first goal with a goalie in the net.

Minus: Defensive structure has plagued the Caps all season and it did so tonight. They are just way too lackadaisical against puck carriers and float around way too much. They did it last game as well but they scored a lot of goals so it covered it. A major defensive scheme change needs to happen this summer.

Caps Player of the Game: No one played all that well. Even the usual reliable Logan Thompson didn’t look great in net. I’ll throw Ivan Miro Miroshnichenko out there. He was hustling every time he was on the ice, throwing hits, getting creative with his head butts.
