After a long wait, the Washington Capitals finally kick off their 50th season tonight when they play host to the New Jersey Devils – a team that also came into existence in 1974 (although they first emerged as the expansion Kansas City Scouts, became the Colorado Rockies two years later, then moved to New Jersey in 1982).
The new-look Caps will look to kick off the 2024-25 campaign in style with a win against their Metro Division rivals, where as many as seven players could make their Capitals’ debut in front of the hometown crowd.
