Capitals vs. Canucks Recap: Caps Streak Ends With 2-1 Loss

Jan 25, 2025; Vancouver, British Columbia, CAN; Washington Capitals forward Connor McMichael (24) and forward Tom Wilson (43) and Vancouver Canucks defenseman Vincent Desharnais (73) and forward Danton Heinen (20) watch goalie Kevin Lankinen (32) make a save in the first period at Rogers Arena. Did Alex Ovechkin score? Nope.

Plus: The Caps have been playing good hockey lately, seemingly turning a corner on their poor month-plus that they were going through, and tonight wasn’t any different. Overall, they played well, they just couldn’t buy a bounce against Kevin Lankinen and Quinn Hughes was being Quinn Hughes. He’s arguably the best defensemen in the league for a reason.

Minus: It’s hard to be too upset with the Caps as they played quite well tonight. Maybe you’d like to see a bit more pressure at times but they did enough that they should have been rewarded a bit more.

Our three stars:
*** Pierre-Luc Dubois (1G)
** Kevin Lankinen (.969sv%)
* Quinn Hughes (2G)
