Capitals vs. Canadiens Recap: Caps Bounce Back for 4-2 Win

Dec 7, 2024; Montreal, Quebec, CAN; Washington Capitals left wing Pierre-Luc Dubois (80) celebrates with his teammates at the bench after scoring a goal against the Montreal Canadiens during the second period at Bell Centre. Mandatory Credit: David Kirouac-Imagn Images

Plus: Tom Wilson bouncing back from taking a Jakob Chychrun shot to the cheek and basically growing a second face for the rest of the game to score two crucial goals is just the stuff of absolute legend. What an impressive outing for Wilson, who is going to appreciate having many days off before the next game for sure.

Minus: Look, as great as that third-period comeback was, it wouldn’t have been necessary had the Caps not once again gone to sleep for most of the first 20 minutes and struggled a bit to set up in the offensive zone during the second (although the goal by Pierre-Luc Dubois certainly helped that feel better). Credit to Logan Thompson in particular for turning aside multiple breakaway chances and allowing his team to come back after that horrific start.

Our three stars:
*** Pierre-Luc Dubois (1G, 1A)
** Logan Thompson (18 saves)
* Tom Wilson (2G, 1 swollen face)
