On this date in 1974… the Capitals played host to, wait for it…the Montreal Canadiens! Yes, in a creepy quirk of the scheduling, the Caps will face the Habs on the 50th anniversary of their first meeting. Here’s hoping tonight goes better than that 1974 go-round, as the Caps were shut out at home by the legendary Ken Dryden, 3-0.
