Plus: Despite the final score, this was actually a good bounceback game for the Washington Capitals after the disappointment that was their date with the Senators on Saturday night. They got dragged up and down the ice three nights ago, but they appeared to have recovered well. The turnaround is particularly notable when considering how poorly the Capitals usually play on the road against the Dallas Stars.
Minus: The Caps were actually doing all the right things tonight, but puck luck was decidedly not on their side. They hit three posts—that’s three times where they managed to beat one of the league’s best goaltenders but, according to the universe, still weren’t able to score.
Caps Player of the Game: This honor has to go to Logan Thompson tonight, who kept this game as close as humanly possible for his team despite not getting any run support. Thompson even went roughly 23 minutes without facing a shot at one point, and the shot he finally did see required one heck of a save.
