Did Alex Ovechkin score? He absolutely did! He extended his goal-scoring streak to four games with his 26th of the season and 879th of his career. Watch out, Gretzky, he’s 16 away…
Plus: Lars Eller scored the Capitals’ third goal of the game, bringing him to 10 on the season. Per Capitals PR, the Washington Capitals are now the only team in the NHL with 10 players who have scored at least 10 goals this season. For a team that wasn’t projected to pack much of a punch this season, they sure are spreading that offensive wealth.
Minus: The Capitals were not at their defensive best tonight. They had a ridiculous number of defensive breakdowns and gave up too many odd-man rushes. They looked sluggish and not at all up to the task of keeping up with the Flyers’ skaters. Thankfully for the Caps, they did what they’ve done many times this season and found a way to win regardless.
