The Washington Capitals came into the Enterprise Center tonight looking to sweep their season series with the St. Louis Blues. The last time these two teams met back in November, the Caps put up six goals on the Blues for a 6-1 win. Washington was rolling with the same lineup as they did on Sunday in their OT loss to Colorado with the exception of a swap at forward: Ivan Miroshnichenko was in for the injured Ethen Frank, who is out day-to-day with an upper body injury.

Plus: The Capitals penalty kill stayed hot tonight, killing off all three Blues’ power play opportunities. They have now killed their last 18 consecutive penalties, and they haven’t allowed a power play goal against since March 7 in Boston.

Minus: Washington struggled to generate much of anything on offense tonight. They struggled to get clean passes off, weren’t moving with urgency, and finished the game with just 22 shots on goal.

Caps Player of the Game: Logan Thompson was once again stellar in net for the Capitals. He saved 24 of 26 shots and did everything he could to keep his team in the game.
