After a convincing win against the Rangers yesterday at home, the Capitals came out flying today against the Senators, but their legs just couldn’t keep up with the young, rested legs of the Ottawa Senators. This is why back to backs are such a stupid gimmick in the NHL. No reason a team should have to play a game then travel across international lines to play a rested team in their own barn, let a lone a young and skilled team like the Senators. But I digress.

Plus: The Caps played a great first period and a bit, looking to have decent legs after yesterday’s matinee at home.

Minus: Anytime you blow a multiple goal lead, it’s a minus. Caps were tired and the Senators’ first two goals involved some bounces, but still frustrating to see that 2-0 lead slip away.

Caps Player of the Game: Justin Sourdif was great again, with a couple points and a huge, thundering hit behind the net. He even added a fight later to defend his hit. Tom Wilson is certainly rubbing off on him.
