Caps Add to Organizational Depth

While the Caps were quiet amid the frenzy of the start of free agency, they did make some moves to shore up the depth (and took care of one of their two restricted free agents).

First was a new contract for Lucas Johansen, who was qualified along with Ilya Samsonov earlier this week and gets a one-year, two-way deal with the team that drafted him. They then brought in some AHL depth with defenseman Matt Irwin (one-year, two-way deal) defenseman Dylan McIlrath (two-year, two-way) and goaltender Hunter Shepard (two-year, two-way).
