The Noon Number: One and (Usually) Done

10 – Number of 1-0 losses over the Alex Ovechkin era (2005-present), with last night’s loss at the hands of the Islanders their first such final in over two years.

In general (and unsurprisingly), when the Caps have held their opponent to one goal or less, they win – to the tune of 251-8-4 over that same 15-16 year span (and are 10-1-0 this year), 613-22-4-36 all-time.

Oh, and if you’re wondering how 251-8-4 adds up to only ten 1-0 losses (rather than 12), it’s because the Caps have had two “0-0 losses” in the Ovi Era – games that were scoreless after overtime in which the Caps fell via the shootout.
